Although many people may say that your academic results are not good because you have not put in enough effort or have not studied enough, few would suggest that you might not be studying in the right way. If you feel that your academic performance is not as expected despite your great effort and determination, perhaps your study method is not on the right track.
Study methods are the first skill in acquiring knowledge and serve as a guiding principle for achieving effective
learning. Study methods depend on each individual’s choice and creativity. What matters is determining which study method will help you achieve the best possible results.
Do you want to study effectively so that you can reduce study time and have more time for leisure and rest?
Do you want to have an effective study method so that you can fully participate in extracurricular activities, Faculty Youth Union – Student Association activities, or specialized clubs?
WHEN STUDYING LAW, IS MEMORIZATION NECESSARY?
So what is the characteristic study method of Law students today?
Let the Economic Law Club answer your questions and share some effective study methods with you.
These methods include:
Grasp the basic concepts of each subject.
Read materials related to the subject before attending class. Law students can refer to materials on the website: thuvienso.lhu.edu.vn of Lac Hong University. This is a website that the University has purchased for students to use free of charge and is linked to the website tailieu.vn, which is very convenient for Economic Law students.
Actively participate in class presentations, engage in discussions, and create opportunities to interact with lecturers and classmates. After expressing your viewpoint, lecturers will provide feedback and adjustments. In addition, speaking frequently also helps improve presentation skills and critical thinking skills that Law students must possess.
Summarize the entire course content to understand how many lessons the subject includes and what sections each lesson contains. Having an overall view of the course before beginning detailed study will help you grasp the material more easily.
Participate in practical learning sessions through mock trials, legal consultation sessions, or periodic thematic activities to gain additional experience in applying the law to specific situations.
Read and analyze judgments:
Search for and analyze judgments on the website: congbobanan.toaan.gov.vn. This website widely disseminates legal information to citizens. In particular, it is a very important data source for Law students to research complex cases with many details. Students must develop the ability to identify legal issues and summarize the content of each case.
In addition, the Economic Law Club would like to share several more essential study methods with students:
METHOD 1: Choose an appropriate study space.
You should find a quiet space to concentrate on studying, such as the University library, self-study rooms, or benches on campus. As you may know, the Lac Hong University library is currently equipped with computers connected to the internet for information search, providing significant support for students in their studies. The library space is extremely quiet and cool, suitable for those who need high concentration. Studying while having materials readily available for reference is indeed an ideal choice. A small tip! The self-study room at Campus 3 is also diverse and well-equipped; while studying, you can even experience the gym facilities to improve your health. Good health enables good learning.
METHOD 2: Focus in class, listen attentively to lecturers, and actively contribute to the lesson.
When attending class, make the most of your lecturers’ explanations by taking comprehensive notes if possible; otherwise, note the key points emphasized by lecturers and concentrate on listening so that you can ask questions when necessary. A small suggestion: this is also a way for lecturers to recognize you and for you to create a positive impression. Moreover, concentration not only helps you grasp subject knowledge but also develop soft skills. At home, you will only need to spend a short time reviewing to retain the knowledge longer.
METHOD 3: Refer to and read a variety of materials.
Studying solely from the textbook may help you achieve good results; however, your knowledge will be limited. Explore and expand the topics you are studying through various books and other sources. This will help you gain deeper understanding and a comprehensive perspective on topics and exercises. When beginning to read a document, first read the abstract, then the conclusion to determine whether it is relevant to you. This approach helps you quickly eliminate unnecessary materials and save time. Use highlighting tools or underline important points in the document so that you do not have to reread the entire text when reviewing later.
METHOD 4: Allocate study time effectively.
You should not study continuously for many hours. Instead, divide your study time reasonably. During breaks, you may do what you like, such as texting friends or browsing social media; however, after five minutes, turn off electronic devices and refocus on studying. This will help your mind feel more relaxed and maintain a positive state, preventing you from giving up midway.
METHOD 5: Study together in groups and discuss difficult exercises with those who are more proficient.
Group study is a very effective method, especially during exam review periods. You can share and supplement knowledge with one another and reaffirm your understanding of the material. Group study also helps develop teamwork skills, presentation and explanation skills, and build good friendships. This is particularly important before exams, as lecturers summarize knowledge and clarify questions and difficult issues. This period also determines your academic results through examinations.
METHOD 6: Develop soft skills to stay motivated and positive.
For students, learning and knowledge development must always be prioritized. However, besides studying well, participating in Youth Union – Student Association and Club activities is also extremely important. These activities provide opportunities for interaction, learning, experience accumulation, and the development of life skills as well as soft skills. By participating in such activities, students can reap numerous benefits and create a solid foundation for their future development. In reality, practice is the teacher of life. Learning life skills through direct activities like these is certainly far more effective than merely sitting still and sketching ideas on paper.
The above are effective study methods that the Economic Law Club would like to share with students. We hope these methods will strongly support your learning and help you apply each method appropriately to different circumstances and subjects to achieve the highest possible effectiveness in your studies.
