Recently, in Hue City, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the People’s Committee of Thua Thien – Hue Province, organized the “5th National Startup Day for Students 2023” (SV_STARTUP 2023).
SV_STARTUP is an annual activity coordinated by MOET to implement the Project “Supporting Students in Entrepreneurship until 2025” under Decision No. 1665/QD-TTg dated 30 October 2017 of the Prime Minister. The event aims to promote the entrepreneurial spirit among students, helping them transform their mindset and awareness, dare to think, dare to act, and nurture great aspirations to turn dreams and ideas into reality. It also provides an opportunity to strengthen networking and investment promotion activities for highly feasible student startup ideas and projects.
This year’s event received participation from 63/63 Departments of Education and Training, more than 400 universities, and over 50 accompanying enterprises and supporting funds. A highlight of the 5th SV_STARTUP was the nationwide competition “Students with Startup Ideas,” with a total prize value of 710 million VND. The competition was open to students aged 12–24 studying at lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, intermediate schools, colleges, and universities nationwide.
Launched in November 2022, the Organizing Committee received 508 projects across five sectors: industry and product manufacturing; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; education, tourism, services, and finance; healthcare, medical care, and beauty technology; and social impact business. From the 508 projects, the Organizing Committee selected the 80 most outstanding projects to advance to the voting round and the final round. Each sector had three representative projects presenting at the National Startup Day. After the competition, potential student projects may be supported by higher education institutions for transfer to the community.
Lac Hong University had two projects participating in the Event, of which one project won Third Prize and one project received a Consolation Prize. Specifically: the project “Crew Positioning and Rescue Support System,” developed by a team of students from the Faculty of Information Technology and The Faculty of Administration International Economics, won Third Prize in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries category; and the project “Development of a Multi-Application Fuel Cell System,” developed by students from the Faculty of English Language, Faculty of Information Technology, and The Faculty of Administration International Economics, received a Consolation Prize.
